Truman, know as Linc Truman, worked his way through law school, then studied local administration and political history, before entering public life as a Democrat candidate in
California, taking a strong stand on important issues such as
climate
change, defence, sustainable government. This impressed people in his congressional district, who were campaigning for the same issues, but without a strong and articulate voice to be heard.
Truman did not set out to enter politics, but found other presidential candidates under-informed, more concerned with bowing to popular opinion and towing the party line with multiple 'U' turns, than actually making a difference. He was unusual in being consistent, with strong views supported by scientific facts. His honesty was a breath of fresh air. He always admitted when he'd made a mistake, rather than cover it up.
The media liked his Foreign Policies based on common sense. He was keen on negotiation, rather than open conflict, but was not a wimp. When it came to defense, he was in favor of replacing men on the ground with
robotic
infantrymen, and developing autonomous naval and airborne solutions, that he thought would be more of a deterrent, than conventional pilots and captains - and save American lives. This lost him a lot of friends in the weapons industries at first, but the situation soon recovered, as the traditionalists had to accept there was money to be made, but not with dinosaur equipment. In fact, business had increased.
President Truman is a human rights advocate and an environmentalist at heart. He had closed down Guantánamo Bay. In Congress, he is known as 'The Californian,' where
California
is big on clean air laws, from years of carcinogenic smog's. He drives an EV and is pushing for energy sustainability, making enemies of many fossil fuel companies. He does not like
nuclear weapons, looking for alternatives to keep the peace.
The fictional President in this original story is being taken for a ride by his
Homeland Security and National Intelligence agencies.
He was under the impression their Navy was bang up to date, not trailing
behind the Chinese and Russian threats.

Storm from his exploits at Guantánamo
Bay. Following which they reached an understanding. He never for a
moment thought the conservationist who abseiled the Shard,
in London, by way of protesting against ocean
pollution, would ever come up with a persistent deterrent like
SeaWolf, however hair brained his advisers were billing the concept.
SOVEREIGN
STEALTH INVASION
What seems incredible to
many voters in the West (free world) and NATO, is that the nations who allowed China to buy into their geographical regions en-masse, must have known that if such acquisition and control by a foreign power was allowed to continue unchecked, that eventually
China would control the world, except for
Russia and
North
Korea. Why then did and does, the free world not put an instant stop to this subtle means of
sovereign invasion?
The answer to this puzzle lies in the inherent tension between economic liberalism and strategic national security interests—a tension that has defined much of the post–Cold War global order.
In
simple terms, the West may be bought, as their elected politicians are
both chicken and corruptible.
