On July 16, 1945, at the Trinity Site in New Mexico, the Manhattan Project personnel responsible for the creation of that day’s prototypical ‘Gadget’ observed the fruits of their years of labour: the first ever detonation of a nuclear device. Soon this super weapon, previously the stuff of speculative fiction, would hasten the end of the Second World War, in the dropping of bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and power up a new Cold War between east and west, as Russia got hold of the technology. It would also quickly become a source of concern for news agencies in the publishing world, that hit danger levels before in the Cuban crisis. Surfacing again in 2022 with Vladimir Putin's saber rattling, than it seems are being supported by Iran, North Korea and China - the CRINIKs:
